Builder / Bricklayer

Position Overview

We are seeking a fully qualified Builder / Bricklayer to join our team, delivering a wide range of construction and renovation projects to the highest standards. This role requires a skilled and experienced individual with a strong background in bricklaying, block work, setting out, and general building. You will play a key part in constructing and improving homes and buildings throughout the North Devon region.

Key Responsibilities

General Building & Bricklaying:
Perform all aspects of bricklaying, block laying, and general construction work including house builds, extensions, and renovations, ensuring structural soundness and attention to detail.

Setting Out & Preparation:
Accurately set out works according to plans, managing levels and layouts for efficient project execution.

Working to Plans:
Read and interpret architectural and technical drawings to ensure correct dimensions, materials, and finishes are achieved.

Health & Safety Compliance:
Maintain safe working practices and adhere to site safety rules at all times. A CSCS card is preferred.

Team Collaboration:
Work effectively within a team environment while being capable of working independently or leading on specific aspects of the project when required.

Site Cleanliness:
Take pride in maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe work environment.

Support Across Trades:
Assist other trades within the team where necessary to ensure smooth project delivery.

Tool & Equipment Care:
Use and maintain your own tools responsibly, ensuring they are in good working condition.

Qualifications & Requirements

City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 minimum in Bricklaying or General Building (Advanced Craft preferable) or equivalent qualification.
Minimum 5 years' experience in construction, with references and examples of previous projects required.
Strong practical experience in bricklaying, block work, setting out, house building, and renovation.
Knowledge of building regulations and safety standards.
Excellent timekeeping and reliability.
Ability to work from design and technical drawings accurately.
Proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented.
Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset.
Must hold a full UK driving licence and have own tools.
CSCS card preferable.
