Carpenter / Joiner

Position Overview

 

As a Carpenter / Joiner at L Vickery Building Contractors, you will play an essential role in delivering high-quality construction and joinery works across a diverse range of projects. You will be responsible for both first and second fix carpentry, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

 

Carpentry & Joinery:


Carry out all aspects of carpentry, including first and second fix works, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail at every stage.

​

Reading Plans:


Interpret and work from design and technical drawings to complete tasks to specification.

​

Safe Working Practices:


Maintain a strong awareness of health and safety requirements, demonstrating safe working practices at all times. Possession of a valid CSCS card is preferable.

​

Teamwork & Support:


Work collaboratively within a team environment, with the flexibility to work independently or lead where appropriate. Assist other trades on site when required.

​

Resource Management:


Use your own initiative to solve problems, manage materials efficiently, and ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.

​

Tool & Site Maintenance:


Maintain your own tools and ensure work areas are kept tidy and safe.

​

Quality Assurance:


Deliver work to the highest standard, taking pride in your craftsmanship and upholding the company’s reputation for excellence.

​

Qualifications & Requirements

 

  • Fully qualified Carpenter / Joiner with City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 minimum (Advanced Craft preferable) or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the construction industry with proven references and examples of previous works.

  • Proficient in both 1st and 2nd fix carpentry.

  • Strong knowledge of safe working practices and a commitment to health and safety.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent communication skills and reliability with outstanding timekeeping.

  • Valid UK driving licence and own tools are essential.

  • Must be located within North Devon (EX31, EX33, EX34, EX39) with willingness to travel to various sites.

  • CSCS card preferable.
