Groundworker

Position Overview

 

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Ground Worker / Machine Operator to join our team in delivering high-quality groundwork services across a variety of construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in site preparation, drainage, foundation work, and operating a range of machinery. This role demands a high level of practical skill, safety awareness, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

 

Site Preparation:
Assist in preparing construction sites by clearing debris, levelling ground, and following set-out requirements.

​

Groundwork Execution:
Perform tasks including laying foundations, installing drainage systems, and constructing sub-base layers to specification.

​

Machine Operation:
Safely and effectively operate various types of construction machinery and hand tools. A range of valid certifications is essential.

​

Health & Safety Compliance:
Demonstrate safe working practices at all times and adhere to health and safety regulations and procedures.

​

Team Collaboration:
Work efficiently as part of a team, while also having the ability to work independently or lead aspects of groundwork operations.

​

Tool & Equipment Management:
Ensure all tools and machinery used are maintained in good condition and used appropriately.

​

Cross-Trade Support:
Support other trades on-site when required to contribute to smooth and timely project completion.

​

Qualifications & Requirements

 

  • Valid machinery operating certificates/tickets such as CPCS, NPORS, or equivalent.

  • Proven experience in groundwork and machine operation, including excavation, levelling, foundation, and drainage installation.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the construction industry with references and examples of previous work.

  • Ability to interpret and follow construction plans and specifications.

  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities.

  • Full UK driving licence and own tools are essential.

  • Commitment to upholding safety standards and workplace cleanliness.
